Visual Simulation Hardware & Software
These are user manuals for a manufacturer of high-end visual simulation systems. For example, Boeing might need a photo-real visual system for a flight simulator.
The Operation & Maintenance Manual includes Visio and photo diagrams that show color-accurate connections. The Thermite system is a man wearable unit for military team simulations.

Software Development Suite
These are course modules for software developers to learn the CORADS integrated software development suite. I defined the look and feel of the documentation and created functional names for major unnamed interface elements. A highly talented software designer created the source material in convoluted Taiwanese English with confusing UI access order. I reorganized and personally tested every step in all the training procedures for accuracy and to mitigate opportunities for user error.
CAD Design
Game-Based CAD Training
These components are part of a unique software training environment—a combined first-person shooter game The Monkey Wrench Conspiracy and thinkdesign 3D solid and assembly modeling CAD software. I created parts of solid models, exercises, procedures, and scripts for voice artists. The first-person character is named Agent “Moldey” as word play on Fox Mulder of the X-Files TV series.

Modelocked Laser
This is a modelocked picosecond pulse laser system from a manufacturer of solid-state lasers for advanced scientific applications. I drafted all individual 3D components, created all assembly drawings, and produced perspective visualizations with selected shaded or rendered faces. I specified most of the physical hardware components and coordinated machining and anodizing.

At the time of my work at eBay, my search for an online POSTMAN guide proved fruitless. I created a guide for other in-house writers and engineers to test complicated RESTful calls by using real eBay structured data. Rather than waste space and sanity with a separate graphic for each control icon, my guide exposes multiple screen elements in a limited collection of composited graphics.

Typically, any group in attendance for a particular technology was radically diverse: 80% neophytes trying to understand the basics and 20% experts asking about the best subnet mask settings—a tough crowd!

Formatting
Style Guide, Writing Tips, Equations
Document styles, language usage, and advanced formatting influence written communication.
The style guide (excerpt) is based on the Microsoft Manual of Style. It covers terminology that extends beyond typical computer usage.
I based the Writing Tips presentation on a set of
anomalies that I found in a single small document.
It is a fun presentation.
This started as a disagreement with a coworker who argued that 0!≡1 because it is defined as such. This shows that the definition can’t be valid unless 0!=1 by direct calculation.
I did not invent the math proof, but I understand and verified it. My original formatting involved monospaced extended-ASCII symbols available at the time. Years later, I updated the presentation using Microsoft Word and its Equation Editor.
